What QBuddy does
QBuddy is a Windows desktop application from bright i-deas, tech, LLC that reads bank- and credit-card statement PDFs, applies user-defined categorization rules, and posts the resulting transactions into the user's QuickBooks Desktop company file or QuickBooks Online company. It is operated by professional bookkeepers and accounting firms on behalf of their clients.
Connecting QBuddy to QuickBooks Online
A connection to a QuickBooks Online company is established from inside the QBuddy desktop app, not from this website:
- Open QBuddy on the workstation.
- Open the client record for the QBO company you want to link.
- Tick Use QuickBooks Online for this client.
- Click Connect to QBO. The default browser opens Intuit's sign-in page.
- Sign in with the QuickBooks Online account that owns the company, review the requested permissions, and click Connect.
- Intuit redirects back to QBuddy and the connection is saved.
Disconnecting QBuddy from QuickBooks Online
You can disconnect at any time, from either side:
From inside QBuddy
- Open QBuddy on the workstation.
- Open the client record currently linked to QBO.
- Click Disconnect QBO and confirm.
- QBuddy clears the saved tokens locally. Posting to QBO for that client is disabled until you click Connect to QBO again.
From inside QuickBooks Online
- Sign into QuickBooks Online as the company admin.
- Open Apps in the left sidebar, then the My Apps tab.
- Find QBuddy in the list and click the gear / menu next to it.
- Choose Disconnect and confirm.
Disconnecting from either side fully revokes QBuddy's access to that QBO company. No further data is read or written until a new connection is established.
